Well I didn’t know what else to call this page. This is where I will be making updates about the page itself, or important information in general about factoids. I wanted to give a slight idea of where I hope Factoid of The Day is in around a year.
Update: I didn’t reach any of my original goals due to not being able to focus on this site, so I’ve pushed back the date, and kept the goals.
By October 1, 2012 Factoid of the Day will:
- Will have a post for every working day of the year, and if all goes to plan weekends too. My current host does not allow me to queue up posts in advance, so each one has to be manually posted.
- Produce over 1,000 factoids, not including the ones used on the website. More on that later.
- Will have an official iPhone app. For right now I do not envision it interacting with the website version, but it will at very least provide you with Factoids on demand. This will be where I will use the unused factoids. I will also attempt the same for Android, but I don’t know how realistic it is.
- Offer a desktop calender for sale, much like the “Far Side” desk top calender, but without comics, and humor.
- A more final home for the site itself. I’m currently not 100% satisfied with where the site is hosted. It has several perks that I greatly enjoy (I’m able to make a random website on a whim, for free as long as it has weebly in the address.) but since it isn’t allowing me to queue up posts in advance it makes it hard to deliver factoids daily if I have to remember to update them daily!
So those are my 5 big plans for the website for this year, and if all goes to plan I will be able to surpass those with ease, but I wanted to attempt to be realistic.
